IPG Photonics orders two Veeco GEN200 systems to expand GaAs-based laser production

Headquartered in Oxford, Mass, USA, IPG Photonics Corporation is to expand its production of GaAs-based lasers with the purchase of two GEN200 Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) Systems from Veeco Instruments Inc of Woodbury, NY, USA. IPG already has one GEN200 system, which it purchased last year. The GEN200 MBE system is a cluster tool with a 4x4 inch wafer configuration.

Alex Ovtchinnikov, VP-Components for IPG, said: “Veeco did an excellent job delivering and installing our first GEN200, and we have also been impressed with the ongoing service and support we are receiving.  We look forward to the delivery of these two additional systems.”

Founded in 1990, IPG manufactures fiber lasers and amplifiers. The company says it is a pioneer in the development and commercialization of optical fiber-based lasers, a new generation of lasers that combine the advantages of semiconductor diodes with the high amplification and precise beam qualities of specialty optical fibers.
