Taiwanese start-up Ubilux has ordered six MOCVD reactors from Aixtron AG of Aachen, Germany for the manufacture of ultra-high brightness (UHB) LEDs based on AlInGaP (for red and yellow) and GaN (for blue and green).
Included in the order are several Planetary Reactor and Close Coupled Showerhead (CCS) CRIUS systems, which will be delivered in stages until the end of the year. The systems will be installed in Ubilux’s new LED production fab, which is due to be operational within six months.
Ubilux president Dr Henry Chen said: “My colleagues and I on the Ubilux board together with our investors have ambitious plans for success in LEDs. We have our sights set on the booming market for solid-state backlighting applications including digital cameras, mobile phones, LCD monitors and televisions.”
