Aixtron AG of Aachen, Germany says that, in first-quarter 2008, it received an order for six more CRIUS Close Coupled Showerhead MOCVD systems from Taiwanese ultra-high-brightness (UHB) LED maker Formosa Epitaxy Inc (FOREPI) for volume production of gallium nitride (GaN) based UHB LEDs.
“After quick transfer of the MOCVD process to our first CRIUS systems in 2007, this is the second repeat order for CRIUS systems,” says FOREPI’s president Dr Fen Ren Chien.
Just last month, FOREPI ordered four CRIUS MOCVD systems in 31x2 inch wafer configuration for GaN-based UHB LEDs production. “This technology has become one of the main platforms for our large-scale high-end LED production,” Chien adds.
