Taiwan GaAs foundries WIN and AWSC expect further growth in June

Taiwanese gallium arsenide foundries WIN Semiconductors and Advanced Wireless Semiconductor Company (AWSC) expect record revenues in June due to growing shipments of GaAs power amplifier and switch components, according to Digitimes.

After growing 5.9% sequentially to a record of NT$645m in May, WIN expects its revenue to grow a further 8% to a new record of NT$670m (US$20.9m) in June. AWSC is likely to generate revenue of NT$165m in June, up 5.8% on its record of NT$156m in May (and up 144% on NT$67.7m a year ago).

WIN’s shareholders have approved a plan to issue 100 million new shares to raise additional funds for a ramp-up in manufacturing capacity. The firm aims to solicit equity investments from its upstream and downstream production partners, reports Digitimes.
