Cree launches 84lm/W 6-inch LED downlight, doubling CFL efficiency

LED chip, lamp and lighting fixture maker Cree Inc of Durham, NC, USA has launched a high-output six-inch LED downlight featuring its TrueWhite technology. The LR6-DR1000 delivers 70% more light than the original LR6 and features a 20o shield angle for lighting designs that require greater brightness control.

Using just 12.5W of input power to deliver 1000 lumens, the LR6-DR1000 has what is claimed to be unmatched fixture efficacy of up to 84 lumens per watt, consumeing half the energy of a typical CFL downlight while delivering the same light output. Cree also now offers a deep-recess 650 lumen LED downlight, the LR6-DR650.

“By broadening our downlight family, we can now address higher ceiling applications, as well as the specific aesthetic and electrical needs of most commercial spaces,” says VP of market development Gary Trott.

The LR6 is now also available in a 277V version, the LR6-277V. Designed to operate on 277V commercial power systems, it delivers 650 lumens with 10.5W of input power.
