Lumileds adds 650–670nm deep red LUXEON Rebel LED 

LED maker Philips Lumileds of San Jose, CA, USA says that, with demand for colored LEDs on the rise, its LUXEON Rebel color portfolio performance is increasing and new colors are being added to the family.

‘Deep Red’, the most recent color added to the portfolio, delivers 720mW of light output (at at 700mA) in the 650–670nm range. This wavelength range is essential for horticultural applications and is required by some governments around the world for applications like road and railway signaling. Other applications include entertainment.

“We are committed to the continuous improvement of our color portfolio and have delivered substantial light output increases,” says Steve Barlow, senior VP of sales & marketing. The drive for improved energy efficiency and the desire to deliver better lighting solutions is as strong today for colored applications as it is for white light applications, the firm adds.
