Indium Corp exhibiting new copper-gallium and indium rotary sputtering targets

In booth 5228 at InterSolar North America 2011 in San Francisco (12–14 July), Indium Corp of Clinton, NY, USA is featuring its newly developed copper-gallium and indium rotary sputtering targets.

Intended for copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) thin-film photovotaic applications, the targets are made by using Indium Corp’s proprietary vertically integrated process, which employs aerospace powder metallurgy technology.

The production process output produces a consistently homogeneous alloy with low-ppm (parts per million) contaminate levels and consistent density throughout the target, resulting in very consistent sputtering film properties, claims the firm.

The Cu/Ga targets can be produced in chemistry ranges from 50% to 80% Cu atomic weight. The In targets are typically 4/9-5 plus grade. Both are produced as a monolithic material, bonded onto the backing tube during Indium Corp’s unique hybrid consolidation process.
