Emcore demos tunable XFP technology

Emcore Corp of Albuquerque, NM, USA, which makes components and subsystems for the broadband, fiber-optic, and solar power markets, is demonstrating its new tunable XFP (TXFP) product in booth 2125 at this week’s Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC 2011) in Los Angeles (8–10 March).

Emcore’s TXFP technology is based on its patented ClearLight platform (the fourth generation of its external-cavity laser technology, deployed in fiber networks worldwide since 2004). The firm is currently shipping pilot production quantities of the TXFP, and is ramping domestic and off-shore production.

“Emcore’s TXFP was designed with the goal of enabling our customers to dramatically reduce size, power consumption, and operating expenses, thus replacing legacy 300-pin transponders,” says CEO Dr Hong Q. Hou. “Our TXFP offers industry-leading performance with both negative and zero chirp options,” he claims.
