RFMD launches integrated 5GHz SPDT switch and LNA front-end module
RF Micro Devices Inc of Greensboro, NC, USA says that its new RF5540 is designed specifically for high-performance WiFi applications in the 5GHz ISM band, including IEEE802.11a WiFi; IEEE802.11p wave automotive mesh; consumer electronics; mobile devices; gaming; and general-purpose switch and low-noise amplifier (LNA) solutions for the 4.9-5.85GHz frequency range.
The front end module integrates the LNA with bypass mode and an SPDT (single-pole double-throw) switch. Operating from a single supply voltage of 2.7-4.8V, the integrated 50Ω input and output match minimizes the number of external components required, optimizing the size and cost.
Packaged in a 2mm x 2mm x 0.5mm, 12-pin QFN, the RF5540 is priced at $0.46 each in 10,000-unit quantities.
