Veeco presenting at LED industry conferences

Epitaxial deposition and process equipment maker Veeco Instruments Inc of Plainview, NY, USA is presenting at two upcoming LED industry conferences:

  • the ‘LED Lighting Evolution Conference: From Sapphire to Lumens’ on Wednesday 6 June in Boston, MA, hosted by IMS Research, provides global LED industry leaders throughout the supply chain an opportunity to explore innovations shaping the future of lighting;
  • the ‘LEDforum 2012’ on Monday 11 June in Guangzhou, China, organized by LEDInside and Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, focuses on future prospects for the LED industry, addresses key developments in LED manufacturing process and equipment, and provides analysis on the Chinese LED industry and global LED market.

Participating in both conferences, Veeco’s Jia Lee Ph.D. (senior director of marketing & business development for MOCVD) has held a variety of marketing positions covering the solar, foundries and semiconductor capital equipment industries. His presentation ‘Enabling Solid State Lighting through Advancements in MOCVD Technology’ provides an LED market outlook, with emphasis on improving manufacturers’ production processes while reducing costs significantly.

According to IMS Research, Veeco’s single-reactor TurboDisc K465i (introduced in 2010) was the top-selling metal-organic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD) tool that year, and the TurboDisc MaxBright Multi-Reactor GaN MOCVD System, launched in 2011, was the top seller in 2011. Veeco reckons that all of its MOCVD systems provide the industry’s highest production and lowest cost of ownership. They also feature low-maintenance TurboDisc technology, enabling what is reckoned to be the highest system availability and throughput.
