Agder Breiband first in Norway to select Infinera’s DTN and ATN platforms

Infinera Corp of Sunnyvale, CA, USA, a vertically integrated manufacturer of digital optical network systems incorporating its own indium phosphide-based photonic integrated circuits (PICs), says that its DTN and ATN platforms have been selected by cable operator Agder Breiband of Norway. Agder offers high speed broadband internet, IPTV and VoIP services, as well as services via its partner Altibox.

Agder is deploying the DTN and ATN platforms in its regional backbone to provide high capacity transport for voice, video and data services. The platforms share the common Infinera Management Suite (IMS), making it simple to deploy new capacity quickly and flexibly, says the firm.

"We selected Infinera for our network based on the flexibility of their solutions, ease of use and the ability to provide us with a simplified end-to-end solution for our network," says Terje Abusland, technical manager at Agder. "At Agder, we have a small team and it's critical for us to deploy with solutions that are cost effective for our business. Infinera’s solutions were easy to install and our team was able to deploy the network in 7 days."

"We are pleased to announce Agder Breiband as our first customer in Norway," says Chris Champion, VP of EMEA sales. "We continue to see traction across the globe with our solutions, providing customers like Agder with platforms that enable them to be successful in the markets they serve."

The DTN platform, powered by 100Gb/s PICs, is designed to scale up to 6.4Tb/s of transmission capacity per fiber. The ATN is a scalable WDM transport platform with multi-service aggregation.
