DILAS highlights technology at Photonics West as it celebrates 20th anniversary

In booth #4737 at Photonics West 2014 (2-6 February) in San Francisco, diode laser maker DILAS of Mainz, Germany is showcasing what it claims is the industry’s largest diode laser product portfolio.

Founded in 1994, this year marks DILAS’ 20th anniversary. With over 350 staff worldwide and a growing distribution network, DILAS’ products have a broad wavelength spectrum from 450nm to 2200nm across a wide range of applications in defense, commercial, industrial manufacturing, medical and scientific.

Products on display at Photonics West include DILAS’ 450nm, fiber-coupled, multi-single emitter module (nominated as a finalist for the 2014 Prism Awards) as well as products from DILAS’ high-power/high-brightness diode laser portfolio.

Also, DILAS’ representatives have authored or co-authored six technical papers/posters being presented during Photonics West. These include the following:

Part of SPIE LASE: High Energy/Average Power Lasers and Intense Beam Applications VIII (Conference 8962)

  • Session 4 ‘DPAL III’ on Sunday 2 February (4:10-4:30pm): ‘Narrow line diode laser stacks for DPAL pumping’ by Tobias P. Koenning, manager, engineering, of DILAS Diode Laser Inc.

Part of SPIE LASE: High-Power Diode Laser Technology and Applications XII (Conference 8965)

  • Session 1 ‘High Power Diode Laser Reliability I’ on Sunday 2 February (9:50-10:10am): ‘Feedback-induced catastrophic optical mirror damage (COMD) on 976nm broad area single emitters with different AR reflectivities’ by Heiko Kissel, senior manager R&D - Chip Technology, of DILAS Diodenlaser GmbH.
  • Session 4 ‘High Power Beam Combining II’ on Sunday 2 February (4:40-5pm): ‘Scalable and modular diode laser architecture for fiber coupling that combines high-power, high-brightness, and low weight’ by Andreas Bayer, R&D - DL Beam Sources, of DILAS Diodenlaser GmbH.
  • Session 8 ’High Power Devices III’ on Monday 3 February (4:30-4:50pm): ‘High-power visible spectrum diode lasers for display and medical applications: beam sources with tailored beam quality and spectral characteristics’ by Dr Andreas Unger, R&D - DL Beam Sources, of DILAS Diodenlaser GmbH.
  • Poster Session on Tuesday 4 February (6-8pm): ‘High-resolution spectral mapping of a lensed high power laser bar’, co-authored by DILAS Diode Laser Inc representatives.
  • Poster Session on Tuesday 4 February (6-8pm): ‘Improved macro cooler for reduced thermal resistance’ by David A. Irwin, optical engineer, of DILAS Diode Laser Inc.
