MACOM launches USB receiver integrating LNA, image reject mixer and LO doubler

M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc of Lowell, MA, USA (which makes semiconductors, components and subassemblies for analog, RF, microwave and millimeter-wave applications) has announced an integrated USB receiver for point-to-point radios applications, specifically in the 42GHz PtP radio band.

The MADC-010736 has an IIP3 (third-order input intercept point) of 6dBm (typical at a forward current IF=2GHz), as well as a noise figure of 3.5dB, conversion gain of 12dB and image rejection of 30dBc. The LNC has an integrated LO buffer, LO doubler, low-noise amplifier (LNA), and balanced image reject mixer. Operating at 40.5-43.5GHz, the device is packaged in a 6mm lead-free laminate package that is RoHS compliant and compatible with reflow temperatures to 260°C, allowing it to be assembled into the application using standard surface-mount production lines.

“The high 3rd order intermodulation performance of the MADC-010736 LNC enables customers to implement very high orders of modulation, using either direct down-conversion or an IF frequency up to 3.5GHz,” says David Richardson, product line director, Wireless. “With the highest IIP3 on the market, as well as very competitive conversion gain, noise figure, and image rejection, this product is a high-performing addition to the existing MACOM 42GHz chipset.”

Production quantities and samples of the MADC-010736 are available from stock.
