Monolith and Littelfuse to demo SiC power semiconductors at APEC

Silicon carbide (SiC) diode and MOSFET power device start-up Monolith Semiconductor Inc of Round Rock, TX, USA and its majority owner Littelfuse Inc, which provides circuit protection technologies (including fuses, semiconductors, polymers, ceramics, relays and sensors) for the electronics, automotive and industrial markets, have announced demonstrations and other activities in their booth (#536) at the Applied Power Electronics Conference & Exposition (APEC 2017) in Tampa, Florida (26–30 March).

In their first joint appearance since the majority investment by Littelfuse in early March, Littelfuse and Monolith are presenting several demonstrations and new technology platforms with products nearing introduction, including the new GEN2 Series of 1200V SiC Schottky diodes manufactured in an automotive-qualified 150mm CMOS silicon foundry.

As part of the APEC conference, Monolith is giving several presentations:

  • ‘Silicon Carbide MOSFETs – Deep Dive to Accelerate Your Next Power Converter Design’ in Professional Education Seminar - Session S02, on 26 March (9:30am-1pm, Room 15/16).
  • ‘Large Scale Test Bed for in-Circuit Reliability Testing of Silicon Carbide Diodes and MOSFETs Emulating Real Life Voltage and Current Stress’ in Session T12 - Power Device Reliability, on 29 March (8:30-10:10am, Room 21).
  • ‘Rugged 1.2 kV SiC MOSFETs Fabricated in High-Volume 150mm CMOS Fab’ in Industry Sessions Lecture, Session IS15 - Industrial Power Applications of Silicon Carbide Semiconductors, on 30 March (8:30-11:30am, Room 13).

Applications experts will be available to walk booth visitors through the design process. Kiosks will offer videos and models of several new technology platforms, including:

  • advanced power converters demonstrating the benefits of SiC-based platform designs, delivering module-like power, higher efficiency, increased power density and performance with discrete SiC devices; and
  • evaluation kits and design platforms that can simplify the design and optimization of power converters using SiC diodes and MOSFETs.

Monolith’s CEO Sujit Banerjee PhD notes that the firm aims to provide service and support for designing its devices into customer applications.
