JDSU's revenue exceeds guidance, driven by Communications Test and Measurement

Based on preliminary data, JDSU of Milpitas, CA, USA says it expects revenue for its fiscal second-quarter 2007 (to end-December 2006) of $360-365m (subject to routine quarter-end close processes), significantly exceeding its guidance of $332-352m issued at the beginning of November. This compares with just $318.1m the prior quarter and $312.9m a year ago.

JDSU says that its Communications Test and Measurement segment has performed particularly well, benefiting from seasonal strength associated with customer spending patterns and improved execution relative to the previous
quarter. The segment's strong revenue growth more than offset a small sequential revenue decline in the Optical Communications segment, associated with customer supply chain and inventory rationalization.

JDSU will release its final Q2 results on 31 January.
