Philips opts out of GaAs

Royal Philips Electronics of Amsterdam, the Netherlands has announced the sale of its controlling stake in Ommic SAS to Financière Victoire SAS, but did not disclose the value of the transaction. Both Ommic and Financière Victoire are located in France.

Created out of the former Philips Microwave Limeil (PML), Ommic was founded in January 2000 to offer an extensive range of GaAs- and InP-based foundry services, including epitaxy, process development, III-V wafer processing and MMIC circuit design. Products include: GaAs PHEMT, GaAs MHEMT, and InP HBT for frequencies from 500 MHz to 150 GHz.

Ommic employs around 75 people, and is part of Philips’ Corporate Investments portfolio.
