Korean IP tribunal rules Seoul Semi LED design invalid

Japan's Nichia Corp says that on 22 May the Korean Intellectual Property Tribunal (IPT) ruled that the design registration (no. 364186, relating to a side-view LED) of Korean LED maker Seoul Semiconductor Co Ltd is invalid.

The tribunal found that the registration was similar to a prior art design registration of Nichia (no. 294490-2).

The invalidation action was filed by Nichia against Seoul Semiconductor on 24 July 2007.
