Lattice Power orders multiple Aixtron MOCVD systems to meet demand for LCD backlighting

In Q4/2009, Lattice Power of Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China placed an order for several CRIUS (31x2 inch wafer configuration) and AIX 2800G4HT MOCVD production systems (42x2 inch wafer configuration) with deposition equipment maker Aixtron AG of Herzogenrath, Germany. Aixtron says that it is one of the largest single orders from China that it has ever received.

Lattice Power will use the systems for the growth of high-power InGaN on silicon LEDs.

Sonny Wu, chairman and CEO of Lattice Power, says: “During discussions it quickly became clear that Aixtron was the company that could deliver this large quantity of high performance production tools to our tight schedule.”

“Aixtron’s delivery and support commitment secured our fast expansion plan for LCD backlighting and general lighting business”, added Dr Bo Lu, executive vice president of Lattice Power.

Aixtron’s Dr Bernd Schulte said: “We’re committed to provide full support for Lattice Power growth and expansion. We believe they’re one of the best LED contenders with strong and outstanding technology on GaN-on-Silicon.“

Aixtron’s local support team will commission the new systems at Lattice Power’s Nanchang facility between Q1 and Q4 this year.
