First Solar advisor steps down from board
First Solar Inc of Tempe, AZ, USA – which makes thin-film photovoltaic modules based on cadmium telluride (CdTe) as well as providing engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) services – says that, following its leadership transition, the board of directors and James A. Hughes have mutually agreed that Hughes will no longer serve in an advisory capacity, after which he has stepped down from the board. As previously announced on 27 April, Mark R. Widmar was appointed CEO, effective 1 July.
"With Mark successfully assuming the role of chief executive officer and the management team continuing to execute our strategic growth plans, the board and Jim mutually agreed that now is an opportune time for this transition," says chairman Michael J. Ahearn. "I want to thank Jim for his many contributions over the years," he adds.
First Solar's board now consists of 11 members, nine of whom are independent directors.
