Altum RF names co-founder Niels Kramer as managing director Europe & VP marketing

Altum RF of Eindhoven, The Netherlands, a start-up that designs high-performance millimeter-wave to digital solutions for next-generation markets and applications, has announced co-founder Dr Niels Kramer as managing director Europe & VP marketing.

Founded in 20018, Altum RF’s engineers are employing decades of modeling expertise and system applications knowledge to develop products based on proven technologies like gallium arsenide (GaAs), gallium nitride (GaN), silicon germanium (SiGe) or RF CMOS for commercial and industrial applications. Working with both customers and global partners on technical support and customer service, the firm says it can significantly shorten product development cycles by managing the entire supply chain from design to packaging, testing and qualification. Applications span telecoms, 5G, Satcom, radar sensors, test & measurement, aerospace & defense and industrial, scientific & medical (ISM). Altum RF adds that it has strategic roadmaps to rapidly expand its product portfolio.

With more than 25 years of semiconductor process and RF and microwave semiconductor industry experience, Kramer’s industry background includes RF semiconductor process development, general management, project and product management, and strategic marketing.

Most recently with MACOM as senior director Integrated Solutions, Kramer had the responsibility of developing a portfolio of RF ICs for high-performance applications. Prior to that, he was department head of the MEMS & Micro Assembly Foundry at Philips, R&D & program manager for RF Products at NXP, and RF device engineer at Philips Semiconductors. He also held several engineering and management positions in 6-inch and 8-inch wafer fabs. Kramer holds an MSc and a PhD in Applied Physics from Twente University, The Netherlands.

“I look forward to continuing to work with Niels and benefitting from his expertise to help lead the growth of our company,” says CEO Greg Baker (formerly senior VP & general manager of MACOM’s RF & Microwave business unit). “His deep technical knowledge coupled with considerable industry experience makes Niels ideal to closely collaborate with our customers, as well as design engineers, to help build our business in Europe and across the globe.”
