Johnson Matthey Gas Purification Technology (JM-GPT) group of West Chester, PA, USA has supplied a GPT-20 hydrogen purifier, capable of flowing 15Nm3/hr, to EpiLED for its new fab in the Tainan Science-Based Industrial Park.
EpiLED is a joint venture formed in August between DRAM maker ProMOS Technologies and chip processing equipment maker Hermes-Epitek of Taiwan to manufacture blue LED chips. Pilot production is due to start in first-quarter 2007.
EpiLED is the latest in a line of Taiwan-based LED chip makers to purchase JM-GPT's hydrogen purifiers this year. In June, Tekcore Company purchased a GPT-40 hydrogen purifier, as did FOREPI in October.
