Veeco co-sponsors awards for MBE innovators

Two awards for contributions to Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) will once again be co-sponsored by MBE systems manufacturer Veeco Instruments Inc of St. Paul, MN, USA. The MBE Innovator Award and the Al Cho Award both recognize individuals that have made significant advances in MBE technology. Each award consists of a monetary honorarium and an engraved plaque.

Introduced in 2003, the MBE Innovator Award is co-sponsored by Veeco and the International MBE Organization. The Al Cho Award, which was introduced in 2004, is co-sponsored by Veeco and other participants within the MBE community.

Nominees for both awards are welcome from academic, government, and commercial organizations. To be eligible, nominees must show innovation in advancing MBE technology. The International MBE Advisory Committee Officials will select each winner from the nominations. Recipients will receive the awards at the International MBE Conference banquet on August 7.

The submission deadline for nominations for both awards is June 15, 2008. Nomination forms and further information can be found at www.mbe2008.ca

“Year after year, we’re honored to help recognize those outstanding individuals who have contributed to MBE’s success to date, and to spur innovations that further expand MBE’s usage. These types of individuals are responsible for MBE’s role as a critical enabling technology for compound semiconductor devices,” said Jeffrey Hohn, vice president and general manager, Veeco MBE Operations.
