Lumentum presents at OFC on innovations and role of photonics in AI data centers

Lumentum Holdings Inc of San Jose, CA, USA (which designs and makes optical and photonic products for optical networks and lasers for industrial and consumer markets) says that its experts are contributing to technical sessions, presentations and panel discussions at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference & Exposition (OFC 2024) in San Diego, CA, USA (26–28 March). Also, CEO & president Alan Lowe is taking part in the Optica Executive Forum’s CEO Panel, discussing the evolution and future of the industry.

Lumentum’s participation at OFC spans a series of technical sessions and panel discussions, aimed at sharing insights and advancements in optical and photonic technologies:

  • Technical Session Presentation on CW-DFB Laser Arrays, on 25 March (8–8:15am PDT) in Room 3 at OFC — Ryosuke Hatai, senior engineer in R&D, presents a technical paper ‘CW-WDM MSA Compatible 100-mW (up to 50°C), 400-GHz Spacing Highly-Reliable CW-DFB 8-Channel Laser Array’, highlighting Lumentum’s advances in semiconductor laser technology.
  • Optica Executive Forum CEO Panel, on 25 March (2:30–3:40pm PDT) at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront — CEO & president Alan Lowe participates in the panel discussion, which provides a platform for industry leaders to discuss current challenges, opportunities, and the future of the optical communication industry.

  • Lightwave AI Research and Panel Discussion, on 27 March (2–3pm PDT) in Room 4 at OFC — Janet Chen, senior director of product line management, is engaging in a discussion ‘How AI is influencing the Optical Industry Growth’, highlighting the intersections between AI technologies and optical industry advancements.
  • Photonics Society of Chinese Heritage (PSC) Optics for the AI Compute Era Workshop, on 27 March (5–7pm PDT) in Room 15 at OFC — Dr Wupen Yuen, president of Cloud and Networking at Lumentum, is presenting on ‘Leading the Photonics Frontier: Accelerating AI Data Centers with Next-Generation Optical Connectivity’.
  • Technical Session Presentation on Advanced ROADM Technologies, on 28 March (8–8:30am PDT) in Room 7 at OFC — Peter Roorda, VP of product line management, is presenting a technical paper ‘Enabling Technologies for Scalable ROADMs’, which will describe advances in technologies enabling scalable reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexers (ROADMs).
