Luminus launches high-CRI SFT-40 warm-white LEDs for precision lighting

Luminus Devices Inc of Sunnyvale, CA, USA – which designs and makes LEDs and solid-state technology (SST) light sources for illumination markets – has launched its high-CRI SFT-40 high-power warm-white LEDs, which are engineered to raise the standard in precision lighting, efficiency and color accuracy. This latest product is designed for professionals seeking high-performance lighting solutions with superior color rendering, especially for applications where light quality is paramount.

The SFT-40 LEDs offer a combination of advanced features, making them a suitable fit for a range of demanding lighting environments, including:

  • Stadium lighting, torch lights and architectural lighting;
  • Indoor directional lighting such as track lights, spotlights, task lighting, and wall washers;
  • Rechargeable high-CRI warm-white lanterns for home use;
  • Surgical lighting, where accurate color rendering, especially for reds (high R9 values), is essential;
  • Broadcast, stage, and studio lighting, combining high-quality light with narrow-beam-spot optical systems.

Key features and benefits are cited as:

  • high color rendering index (CRI>95) with exceptional R9 (R9>50) values, providing superior red color rendering that ensures illuminated spaces, furnishings and even people and food appear in true-to-life colors;
  • warm-white color temperatures (2700K and 3000K) designed to enhance eye comfort, reduce eye strain, and improve overall well-being with minimal blue light, promoting better sleep and eye health;
  • high flux (400lumens at 1.5A/90 CRI/50 R9/Tj=85°C) from a single LED with over 100lm/W efficacy, delivering powerful lighting output while maintaining a compact and aesthetically appealing fixture design;
  • high power (900+lumens at 4A/13W), suitable for small optics and fixtures where performance and precision matter;
  • flat top LED package, offering higher optical shaping efficiency, resulting in up to 50% more beam intensity in narrow angles, making it suitable for high-performance directional lighting in small-form-factor applications where single-digit-degree viewing angles are required.

The SFT-40 utilizes vertical chip technology for high lumen density and small emitting angles, enabling what are said to be superior beam control and long beam distances. Its phosphor-on-chip technology ensures uniform color distribution across radiation angles, delivering homogeneous and consistent light in any setting.

“With its advanced features, the SFT-40 is ideal for professionals who need high-performing lighting solutions that demand accurate, warm-white light,” says senior business line director Yves Bertic.
