Lund University buying Taiyo Nippon Sanso MOCVD platform
Industrial gas company Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corp (TNSC) of Tokyo, Japan (part of Nippon Sanso Holdings Group) says that Lund University in Sweden is to purchase and use a TNSC FR2000-OX metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) reactor for its gallium oxide R&D.
“This is Taiyo Nippon Sanso’s first gallium oxide reactor placement in Europe, and Taiyo Nippon Sanso is looking forward to working with professor Vanya Darakchieva and the Lund University community,” says TNSC senior corporate officer Kunihiro Kobayashi.
“The selection of the TNSC MOCVD system and partnership with Taiyo Nippon Sanso enables Lund University to expand its epitaxial growth facilities with these state-of-the-art growth capabilities for oxide materials,” says Darakchieva, professor in Materials Science and a Wallenberg Scholar in the Solid State Physics Division of Lund University’s LTH Faculty of Engineering, and director of the Centre for III-nitride technology (C3NiT). “We are eager to leverage TNSC technology to push the boundaries of wide- and ultrawide-bandgap semiconductor research and development.”
The MOCVD reactor will be installed at Sweden’s Solid State Physics Laboratory, a shared user facility servicing the nitride and oxide materials community.
TNSC says that, as research and applications for advanced oxide materials and devices expand, it expects its MOCVD platforms to be the platforms of choice for researchers and manufacturers. The firm adds that it continues to seek collaborations and partnerships with leading universities and corporations in Europe.
