Bridgelux launches DriveLux light engine series integrating COB and driver technology
Bridgelux Inc of Fremont, CA, USA (a vertically integrated developer and manufacturer of solid-state light sources for lighting applications) has expanded its chip-on-board (COB) product line by launching two inaugural DriveLux series of light engine products. By seamlessly integrating COB technology with an advanced driver, DriveLux is compact, with a replaceable design, what is claimed to be exceptional CRI90 efficacy, and versatile mounting options for large, selectable optical lenses in various sizes and beam angles.
The DX1 series is a single-channel static white solution, offering dimmable functionality compatible with phase-cut and 0–10V dimmers. Designed to pair with Bridgelux’s F90 V6, V8, V10, V13, V18 and V22 COBs, the DX1 delivers consistent lumen outputs of 1000lm, 1200lm, 1500lm, 2000lm, 4000lm and 5000lm to suit diverse applications. With a typical system efficacy of 138lm/W and a broad correlated color temperature (CCT) range of 2700–6500K, the DX1 enables precise lighting — from warm tones to crisp, cool illumination — while maintaining what is claimed to be industry-leading energy efficiency.
Complementing the DX1, the DriveLux DX4 series is a 4-channel RGBW (red, green, blue, white) light engine tailored for dynamic white tuning and vibrant color lighting. Leveraging Bridgelux’s 4-in-1 RGBW CSP COB or 3838 mid-power SMD array technology with an integrated driver, the DX4 offers what is claimed to be unmatched color control for architectural, entertainment and specialty lighting projects. A standout feature is Bridgelux’s patented phosphor-converted (PC) red LED, which matches the 3V forward voltage of other BGW LEDs and outperforms native gallium arsenide (GaAs) red LEDs in thermal droop. This technology ensures high-purity red color and white mixing that aligns with the Bridgelux F90 LED series.
The DX4 series delivers tunable white from 1800K to 6500K along the black-body locus (BBL), plus vibrant colors via RGB mixing — akin to conventional displays — combined with a dedicated white channel mixing for CRI95 white light. Compatible with Bridgelux’s RGBW D10 and D13 COBs, it offers lumen outputs of 1300lm and 2000lm (LES 10mm and 13mm), with system efficacy ranging from 90lm/W to 120lm/W. The white channel mixing supports CCT options from 1800K to 6500K, while RGB channel mixing enable millions of fully tunable, dimmable color combinations via compatible control systems. For this launch, built-in DMX control supports standard entertainment industry controllers, with Bluetooth wireless controls in development.
“DriveLux marks a significant advancement in our mission to deliver innovative, compact, high-performance LED engines powered directly by AC,” says CEO Dr Yi-Qun Li, CEO. “By integrating our trusted COB technology with advanced drivers and controls, we simplify design and installation processes for our customers while ensuring unmatched light quality and efficiency.”
Additional DriveLux series, including enhanced wireless control options, are in development and slated for announcement later this year.
