ROHM highlights Power Eco Family power semiconductor brand
ROHM Co Ltd of Kyoto, Japan has announced its commitment to addressing social challenges through electronics by focusing on the development of power semiconductors, which play a critical role in improving efficiency in high-power applications. Under the ‘Power Eco Family’ brand, ROHM offers comprehensive power semiconductor technologies and solutions that contribute to building a sustainable ecosystem.
In recent years, the use of electricity has been accelerating across fields such as electric vehicles and energy harvesting, with power systems integrated into these applications, which need to improve performance by increasing efficiency, achieving miniaturization, and reducing weight. Consequently, power semiconductors must meet higher performance requirements and withstand harsh environments by specifically providing fast switching speeds, low losses, and superior heat dissipation. In addition, the application scope of power semiconductors continues to expand, increasing demand.
ROHM has accumulated extensive expertise and technological advancements in the power semiconductor sector, including becoming the world's first to successfully mass-produce silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs. ROHM is also expanding into new product areas such as the mass production of gallium nitride (GaN) which, like SiC, is attracting attention as a next-generation semiconductor to meet growing market demand.

The diagram illustrates the application range of ROHM's power semiconductors, with operating frequency plotted on the horizontal axis and power capacity on the vertical axis. Silicon (Si) is utilized in the EcoMOS and EcoIGBT series of power semiconductors. Meanwhile, next-generation semiconductors such as EcoSiC (which is optimized for ultra-high voltage and high-speed switching) and EcoGaN (which features ultra-high-speed switching) are offered to address diverse application requirements.
ROHM has grouped these four product lines under the Power Eco Family, contributing to the development of a sustainable ecosystem by enhancing application performance.
