EPC starts mass production of 100V integrated GaN power stages for high-performance motor drives
Efficient Power Conversion Corp (EPC) of El Segundo, CA, USA — which makes enhancement-mode gallium nitride on silicon (eGaN) power field-effect transistors (FETs) and integrated circuits for power management applications — has begun mass production of its 100V integrated GaN power-stage IC family: EPC23108, EPC23109, EPC23110 and EPC23111.
Designed for high-performance motion control applications, the monolithic ePower Stage ICs integrate high-side and low-side eGaN FETs, gate drivers, and level-shifting circuitry into a compact thermally enhanced QFN package. The devices support up to 100V operation with current ratings of 35A and 20A, delivering high efficiency, power density, and simplified system design. The family features advanced protection such as fast fault shutdown, safe gate control under power-loss conditions and continuous duty-cycle operation at 100%. There are also single-input PWM options for simpler multi-axis motor control designs.
“The move to volume production reflects the strong market demand for integrated GaN power stages that simplify design while delivering high performance and reliability,” says CEO Alex Lidow.
To accelerate system development and evaluation, EPC also offers the EPC91128, EPC91129, EPC91130 and EPC91131 three-phase BLDC motor drive evaluation boards. Built around the EPC23108, EPC23109, EPC23110 and EPC23111 ePower Stage ICs, these compact inverter platforms integrate gate drivers, current and voltage sensing, housekeeping power supplies, temperature monitoring, and protection features.
The EPC23108/09/10/11 family is now available through the EPC global distribution network with Digi-Key and Mouser, supporting applications such as humanoid robots, drones, industrial motor drives, medical equipment, synchronous rectification, and high-density DC–DC converters, with production ramping up.
The EPC23108 and EPC23109 devices are priced at US$3.70 each, and the EPC23110 and EPC23111 devices are priced at US$2.47 each, in 3000-piece quantities.
To help engineers accelerate design and system validation, EPC is also releasing a comprehensive technical white paper, available in both English and Chinese. The paper explores the architecture, design considerations, and evaluation platforms for the new EPC23108, EPC23109, EPC23110 and EPC23111 integrated GaN power-stage ICs, providing practical guidance for robotics, drones and high-performance motor-drive applications.
The EPC91128 and EPC91129 evaluation boards are priced at US$640 each, while the EPC91130 and EPC91131 evaluation boards are priced at US$630 each.
