Ibérica Semiconductores de Potencia to distribute SemiQ SiC MOSFETs and Schottkys

SemiQ Inc of Lake Forest, CA, USA — which designs, develops and manufactures custom silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors and 150mm SiC epitaxial wafers for high-voltage applications — has announced a distribution agreement with power electronics firm Ibérica Semiconductores de Potencia of Madrid, Spain.

The partnership expands SemiQ’s European reach and support for its range of high-performance SiC MOSFETs and Schottky diodes.

Ibérica will have access to SemiQ’s complete portfolio of modules, discrete and bare-die products, and will provide these with application and design support to power system developers across the entire continent. Ibérica has a long-established position in the Spanish power electronics market and will lead the development of SemiQ’s business in Spain, while supporting customers and opportunities across Europe.

Industrial and automotive systems are undergoing electrification to meet sustainability requirements, with data centers and other high-power sectors striving to become more energy efficient. At the same time renewable generation and storage is scaling rapidly to meet demand and reduce the impact of these sectors. As a result, the market for silicon carbide-based power electronics continues to grow rapidly.

SemiQ says that its portfolio is noted for its ruggedness and reliability in demanding environments, and integrates seamlessly into Ibérica’s specialized focus on renewables, transport and industrial applications.

“Ibérica is a leading player in the European power space and will play a key role in expanding our reach and support within the region,” reckons SemiQ’s president Dr Timothy Han. “Their experience of working across the power electronics space is second to none, and this means our customers can benefit from exceptional support when implementing systems based on SemiQ’s high-performance, high-reliability silicon carbide technologies,” he adds.

"Silicon carbide’s reliability and efficiency are essential if Europe is to continue to electrify its industrial and transport systems, as well as to roll out solar, wind and other renewable infrastructure to meet net-zero requirements,” says Iberica’s managing director Ignacio Salido de Miguel. “Adding SemiQ’s MOSFETs and modules can only help our customers accelerate innovation in these vital high-power markets.”

Customers can now purchase SemiQ products and receive technical design support directly through Ibérica Semiconductores de Potencia via www.ibersp.com/es.
