Infineon module and chip technology used in most powerful 1500V PV string inverter

With the launch of its latest 1500V PV string inverter SG350HX, Sungrow Power Supply Co Ltd is offering a new solution that features maximum output power of 352kW (a significant increase of about 40% on its prior-generation inverter). This performance increase is aided by incorporating products from Infineon Technologies AG of Munich, Germany, namely customized EasyPACK power modules equipped with the newly released CoolSiC MOSFETs, the latest generation CoolSiC diode, along with the latest TRENCHSTOP chip technologies.

“Sungrow is dedicated to paving the way for global carbon neutrality with growing technical innovations,” says James Wu, vice president of Sungrow. “To make this possible, the new SG350HX redefines the super-high-power string inverter and helps Sungrow’s customers to reduce the cost of energy,” he adds.

“We are very pleased to continue our successful collaboration with Sungrow and leverage our technology expertise in the area of renewable energy,” says Dr Peter Wawer, president of Infineon’s Industrial Power Control Division. “Leveraging our expertise on technology and production allows us to tailor solutions based on customer needs while giving full support during ramp-up.”

The inverter supports a DC/AC ratio of up to 1.8 and is highly compatible with 182mm and 210mm large-sized high-efficiency modules with a maximum input current of 20A. This allows the use of solar modules with power ratings of 600W and higher. The device can operate stably in extremely weak grid conditions.

Weighing only 110kg, the inverter features 12 MPPTs (maximum power point tracking) at 40A. With two strings connecting to one MPPT, there is no threat of a string reverse connection. Each one helps to increase the power density by about 28% compared with the previous generation. Due to smart-forced air-cooling technology and IP66 protection, the solution can be installed in harsh conditions.
